Abstract

This essay aims at thinking about the weight of time on the colonization of the Philippines, from the time the archipelago appeared in the Spanish horizon until the middle of the 17th century. In its first part, it highlights to what extent the establishment of colonization in the Philippines, from the perspective of secular or religious conquest, lies at a crossroads of heterogeneous temporalities. Secondly, it tries to measure the impact of duration on the circulation of information and on the lives of men. Finally, in a final sequence, it proposes to think about the incidence during that period of the circumstances, the missed opportunities, and the time lost.
