Abstract

Preimaginal stages of Macroscytus brunneus (Fabricius, 1803) are studied. Collecting and observations were conducted by the author in 1985-1993 in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Observations on the development of eggs and larvae were carried out in nature and at the laboratory. The distribution range of the species is clarified, namely its northern border in Central Asia. The published data about this species are summarized. The species has winter hibernation on the stage of adult, and has one generation per year. The eggs are laid by one, in June-July. Young individuals appear in July-August. The species is often attracted by light. Presumably the species feeds on Poaceae. The description of the preimaginal stages is given
