Efficacy and safety of Amomum villosum extracts in obese adults: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

Objective: This study aimed to assess how well Amomum villosum water extract (AVE) assisted overweight to moderately obese people in losing weight. Methods: Eighty participants were chosen at random for the AVE group or the placebo group for this experiment. Subjects were given two tablets of the test substance after their two consistent meals daily for 12 weeks. At the starting and completion of the experiment, measurements of body mass index (BMI), body weight, percent body fat, body fat mass, visceral adipose tissue (VAT), lean body mass, subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT), percent VAT (%), and percent SAT (%) were taken. Before and after the study, blood samples were obtained for safety laboratory parameters.
