Abstract
- ungauged Canle catchment is presented. The SRTM data was obtained and processed in order to createa suitable Digital Elevation Model (DEM). A lumped empirical model, the Geomorphologic InstantaneousUnit Hydrograph (GIUH) rainfall – runoff model, is developed for flood prediction. Model parameters aremainly Horton’s morphometric parameters including bifurcation, length and area ratios. A new functionalitywithin the ILWIS GIS-RS package, namely “DEM-hydro processing”, is applied to effectively processthe DEM and extract these ratios. Results showed that with limited data (e.g from SRTM), the model wassuccessfully applied for the Can Le catchment.
