Abnormalities in the number, shape and size of the teeth: part II

In the period from September 2011 to July 2012 a review of printed, frequent and classical publications was conducted at the Faculty of Dentistry of the Medical University in Vila Clara using search engines specialized in scientific information to obtain updates on the abnormalities in the number, shape and size of the teeth. The search is the second part of an article previously published in the journal Acta Medica del Centro and was enriched through exchanges with researchers on that theme. The theoretical contents found were properly analyzed and criticized by the authors in order to select the information to be used, which was grouped for presentation in four sub-themes: I Environment, genetics and dental alterations; II Association with systemic disorders; III Genes and tooth development; IV Future prospects. The collection, discrimination and ordering of the reviewed content led to this paper. It represents a new product that is useful as a teaching material and provides updated information on this controversial topic.
