Abstract

This article discusses the myths related to the deer and the bull, animals that are used most often in the wixaritari (huichol) ritual sacrifices. The principal aim of these sacrifices is to feed the gods. In all the cases, the ritual concludes with the production of broths that are distributed among the participants. In mythology and in the ritual we will find some opposition and complementarity principles that explain the differences in the cooking process of these two traditional dishes.
