Abstract
- In order to respond positively to fish market demands and to improve its sustainability, the aquaculture sector need to be upgraded with techniques and technologies that can be included in the segment of environmentally preferable procurement (EPP) or green procurement products. Since both aquaculture and agriculture are considering key food production industrial sectors, implementing integrated systems as aquaponics, which combines both and generates more sustainability, must be considered. However, know-how information must be disseminated among the fish farm owners, as well as potential investors. Aquaponics ready-to-use packages must be considered in order to facilitate the integration within EPP process.
