Abstract

The paper discusses the status of Slavonian dialect at the beginning of the 21st century, in the period from 2000 to 2015 in theory and practice. The theory encompasses bibliography of papers focusing on Slavonian dialect, and the practice deals with the activities used for teaching and promoting the dialect. While forming the viewpoint on the Slavonian dialect, taking care of what will remain for the younger generations, we have to keep in mind the diversity of regional and local speeches, as well as add the sociolinguistic, the cultural and the identity to the scientific view – that is the only way to consider the local language a constituent part of national and regional identity. A separate part of the paper consists of bibliographical units list for the period from 2000 to 2015 that can be a starting point for the complete bibliography of works on Slavonian dialect.
