Abstract
- This case report will discuss a 6-month-old female, born at 37 weeks gestation, who underwent a diagnostic laparoscopy for an intra-abdominal cystic mass that was diagnosed in utero at 22 weeks’ gestation. She underwent an abdominal U/S on her second day of life. This redemonstrated the intra-abdominal cystic lesion, measuring 2.8 × 2.3 × 2.9 cm with differential diagnosis including a mesenteric cyst, enteric duplication cyst, and lymphatic malformation. The patient was taken to the operating room for surgical intervention. She was found to have a hepatic lesion, which appeared to be a simple hepatic cyst. Pathology reported this to be a benign congenital biliary-type cyst. We describe a laparoscopic approach to this benign appearing hepatic/biliary mass.
