Abstract
- Differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) occurs rarely in the pediatric population, contributing to 1%–2% of childhood malignancies. Lung metastases have been reported to occur in 7%–30% in this age group. Moreover, pulmonary metastases presented with miliary pattern of micronodules are uncommon in pediatric cancer patients. In developing countries, miliary lung nodules are most frequently seen in pulmonary tuberculosis. However, we herein report a rare pediatric patient with miliary pulmonary metastases from well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma and discuss about differential diagnosis of miliary pattern of micronodules.
