Abstract
- Abstract These self-directed dosimetry modules were developed to teach key radiation treatment planning concepts in a self-directed, interactive, and hands-on format. Because the modules are self-directed, learners can complete them when they have available time in the clinic. Since these workshops teach basic planning concepts and skills, they should be completed in order: first AP/PA spine, then three-field breast, and finally IMRT (intensity-modulated radiation therapy). Learners do not need to complete a dosimetry rotation to learn conceptual and practical aspects of radiation treatment planning. The modules can be repeated to ensure that the concepts and practical aspects covered are fully understood. These modules have been completed by multiple radiation oncology residents and have received positive reviews. It takes approximately 1 hour to complete each module. Residents have consistently rated their comfort level and understanding of treatment planning as improved after completion of the modules.
