Abstract
- In this paper, the supercontinuum generation in an optical fiber with forward and backward Pearcey-Gaussian pulses near the zero-dispersion wavelength is investigated. By using the split-step Fourier transform to solve the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation (GNLSE), we have shown an interesting phenomenon that the spectrum bandwidth of the forward Pearcey-Gaussian pulse is broader than that from hyperbolic secant pulse with the same parameters. By investigating the time–frequency dynamics of the pulse propagation, the underlying mechanism is analyzed.
