This article analyses the case Robathin v Austria where the ECtHR established that certain searches and seizures of electronic data which had been carried out by Austrian policemen at a lawyer’s office constituted a breach of the latter’s right to privacy as recognized by Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.Published online: 25 November 2014
