Entre être et devenir femme ; trajectoires de précarité féminine et désindustrialisation en France et en Italie

By comparing the processes of precarization among poorly qualified or unqualified women, this essay discusses the « feminine » precarization. All women live in rural areas in France and Italy. Two paths are being compared : where the interruption of occupation and family work have a direct effect on female employment ; and where the transformations of the local structures of production can also lead to precariousness of the low-skilled female labour force, By com paring the different influences of the family, the market and the Welfare State on these paths to precarisation, we discuss the relationship between the concept of gender and the local de-industrialization.
