Abstract
- This paper analyzes two works for young people with colonial content, published in Belgium in 1930, Tante Julia découvre le Congo (Ransy Roger, 1932), and Jeannot gosse d’Afrique (Jeanne Maquet-Tombu, 1935). Providing an internal vision of the Belgian Congo, both focus on the everyday but with contrasting perspectives where image and representations of the Other and the Abroad say a lot about the collective definition of itself, namely that of Belgium as a colonial power.
