Abstract
- This study successfully joined the Mo–Cu and Cu plates via a solid-state explosive welding process. As a result, while the joined metals maintained their prebonded properties without forming cracks and voids, they recorded a maximum shear strength of 252.1 MPa and an average nanohardness of 4.50 GPa at the interface of the joined metal. Subsequently, electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analytical system, shear, and nanoindentation measurements were conducted to characterize the new metal further. Investigations suggested the formation of a laminated composite with severe and irregular plastic deformation, including a recovery-recrystallization at the interface of the joined metal.
