Abstract

Among the French contemporary poets that want to get back some lyric values of poetry adapting them to contemporary requirements, this article aims to approach the figure of Antoine Emaz. This poet doesn’t consider himself as a lyric poet a priori, but he wants to maintain some emotion or tension in his poems. With this paper, we will study different poetic methods used by Antoine Emaz, as the refusal of the expression in first person, the presence of everyday life, or his persistence to preserve emotion in poetry. Following these procedures, he reaches the exploration of what we could consider as a lyrism of sobriety.
