Abstract

A truly random number generator based on thermal noise was proposed, and the resistance thermal noise was used as the noise source of the low frequency clock. It uses two independent working relative relationship between high and low frequency oscillator to sample noise source, and uses low frequency oscillator with jitter to sample the high frequency osciuator which has a fixed cycle oscillator by D flip-flop, to generate a random number sequence. The circuit was based on SMIC 28 nm CMOS process. The simulation results show that based on the thermal noise of truly random number generator the output throughput rate range is 1.8~12 Mb/s, random number output satisfies the requirement of entropy source AIS31 truly random number test, and the overall power consumption is 0.388 mW.
