Abstract

In 2019, with the operation of Brittany’s high schools inventory, a section sought to measure the extent of educational collections, to study them, to build promotion tools and to raise awareness. This work resulted in the online publication of twenty-four study files and the publication of a brochure. Among the educational collections studied, those of the Lycée Émile-Zola, a high school in Rennes, bear witness to the history of teaching activity, over more than two centuries and in many disciplines: physics instruments, chemistry materials, natural science collections, plasters for the study of drawing, maps, wall charts... These collections come mainly from successive acquisitions since the creation of the school in 1802, but some date back to the presence of the Jesuits in the 18th century. The lycée Émile-Zola benefits from the assistance of an association, Amélycor, which has been responsible for the inventory, safeguard, restoration and enhancement of this educational heritage for 25 years. In collaboration with this association, the Brittany Region has created a virtual museum around these collections.
