Abstract

Espido Freire (Bilbao, 1974) hatches in Soria Moria —for which she received the Ateneo de Sevilla Prize in 2007— a cyclic narrative frame where the characters are painted, placed in a real time and space —1914-1936, Canary Islands— but they could exist anytime and anywhere. Thus, —as in most of her literary work— the reference point is imaginary, Soria Moria. And the teenage protagonists —a polymorphous perverse’s embodiments— are exposed to a particular circular evil through childhood, friendship, marriage and family, which perpetuate oppressive models for women. Our purpose is to analyse these aspects through narratological, philosophical, sociological and psychoanalytical tools.
