Abstract
- the aim of this study was to assess different surgical approaches of supracondylar fracture in 31 children.the surgical approches consisted of anteromedial (16 cases),posterior (13 cases) and anterolateral (2 cases). the rate of persistent complications was higher in the posterior approach.the most common complication eas soft tissue atrophy in posterior of elbow (69%) followed by limitation of the range of motion (47%). two cases of cubitus varus and a case of supination was also seen in the posterior approach.in 16 cases of anteromedial approach,14 cases (88%) had excellent results with no complications, however in one case there was a slight limitation of extension and cubitus varus was seen in another case.in the two cases which were operate through anterolateral approach no complication was observed.regarding the findings of this study,it seems that complications of posterior approach are higher than the other approaches studied in this report.therefore because of posteromedial displacement and the tearing of soft tissue, the anterolateral and anteromedial approaches are recommended.
