Abstract

Objective: Angiogenesis plays a critical role in the development and growth of solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. The system involving angiopoietin-2 [Ang-2] and its receptor Tie-2 appears to play an important role in tumor angiogenesis and in the biology of hematological and non-hematological malignancies. We evaluated the levels of soluble (s)Ang-2 and sTie-2 in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients and investigated the impact of their circulating levels on the overall survival in those patients.Materials and Methods: Ang-2 and Tie-2 were measured in plasma samples from AML patients and controls using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
