Abstract

Background: Salivary duct cysts are rare, reactive ductal lesions of the major salivary glands that are likely caused by obstruction and are lined by true ductal epithelium. Although they are noted in the literature to be acquired or congenital, the vast majority present in the fifth decade of life. Case presentation: Here we report the youngest documented case of a parotid salivary duct cyst in a 3-year-old girl. Conclusions: Salivary duct cysts should be considered in this young population.
