Estimated glomerular filtration rate calculator according to creatinine measurement methods

Abstract

Introduction: In Cuba, serum creatinine measurements are usually made by methods that need to be corrected versus a reference method. Objective: To present a mobile device application that corrects serum creatinine to a reference method (compensated Jaffé), calculates the estimated glomerular filtration rate and classifies the patient by Chronic Kidney Disease stage. Methods: The application was developed using open source Android programs with the Flutter framework (version 2.10). Formulas were introduced to correct creatinine, calculate the estimated glomerular filtration rate and values to classify Chronic Kidney Disease. Presentation: The application requires seven data to be entered, which can vary according to the patient's characteristics; and deliver as results the corrected creatinine, the estimated glomerular filtration rate, and the patient's classification by Chronic Kidney Disease stage. It has minimal hardware requirements and a simple and intuitive user interface. Conclusions: A mobile device application is presented that corrects serum creatinine to a reference method, calculates the estimated glomerular filtration rate and classifies the subject by Chronic Kidney Disease stage.
