Plasma apelin level after percutaneous coronary intervention

Abstract
- Objectives: The aim of this study is assessment of plasma apelin levels in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) before and after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods: The present study is conducted on 40 patients who underwent PCI, beside 20 healthy subjects with no risk factors or any evidence of CAD. After history taking each subject in the study underwent an electrocardiography, echocardiography for calculation of the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). 22 patients underwent PCI with drug eluting stent (DES), while 18 patients underwent PCI with bare metal stents. Plasma apelin level was estimated for the control group, before, and 24 h after PCI in the patient’s group.
