Abstract: Experimental knowledge of magnetoelectric (ME) activity from magnetic multipole moments has so far been limited. Here, Kimura et al. show that a magnetic square cupola cluster such as Cu4O12 realized in Ba(TiO)Cu4(PO4)4is a promising structural unit carrying ME-active magnetic quadrupole moments.
