Abstract

This thesis presents systematic constructions of new non-trivial higher Massey products in the cohomology of moment-angle complexes. This is achieved by using combinatorial operations, such as stellar subdivision and edge contraction, on the underlying simplicial complex of a moment-angle complex. These techniques construct non-trivial higher Massey products of cohomology classes in degree three or higher and can be used on any simplicial complex. Consequently, we find new examples of non-trivial Massey products in moment-angle manifolds Ζ<subscript>p</subscript> for simple polytopes P that are neither truncated n-cubes nor Pogorelov polytopes, both of which have already been studied in the literature.
