Urban art before the age of three? The city, street art and children's education

Al llarg dels últims anys l’àmbit educatiu s’ha interessat cada vegada més per l’street art i els beneficis d’aquesta expressió artística a nivell pedagògic. La majoria de les experiències d’street art en l’àmbit educatiu s’han dut a terme en les etapes d’educació primària i secundària. El present article analitza el potencial pedagògic de l’street art a l’etapa d’educació infantil. A partir d’una primera part amb una perspectiva teòrica-descriptiva, es pretén entendre el vincle existent entrela infància i la ciutat, el paper de l’art urbà i el seu poder pedagògic a l’etapa d’educació infantil.En una segona part, l’article aborda, des d’una perspectiva més pràctica-exploratòria, l’anàlisi de les temàtiques de les mostres d’street art en una ciutat catalana, segons la seva ubicació (zones amb mostres d’art públic en el marc d’iniciatives municipals per promoure l’art urbà a la ciutat, o bé art a les façanes de les escoles infantils). Finalment, s’elabora una proposta d’implementació de l’street art des de finals del primer cicle de l’educació infantil. Les activitats, en base a quatre eixos derivats de les investigacions i estudis previs, s’organitzen en dos parts que corresponen a les dues vies per abordar l’street art: des de l’observació i des de la creació, en ambdós casos juntament amb processos reflexius.
In recent years the educational field has been increasingly interested in street art and the benefits of this artistic expression at a pedagogical level. Most street art experiences in the field of education have been carried out in the primary and secondary educational stages. This article analyzes the pedagogical potential of street art in the early childhood education stage. First, a theoretical-descriptive perspective pretends to understand the link between city and childhood, the role of urban art and its pedagogical power in early childhood education. Second, the article addresses, from a practical-exploratory perspective, the analysis of the themes of street art in a Catalan city, depending on its situation (areas with public art promoted by municipal initiatives, or art on the early childhood schools’ facades). Finally, it is elaborated a proposal to implement street art from the end of the first cycle of the stage of early childhood education. The activities, based on four axes derived from previous research and studies, are organized into two parts that correspond to the two ways of approaching street art: from observation and from creation, in both cases accompanied by processes of reflection.
En los últimos años el ámbito educativo se ha interesado de forma creciente por el street art y los beneficios de esta expresión artística a nivel pedagógico. La mayoría de las experiencias street art en el ámbito de la educación se han realizado en las etapas educativas de primaria y secundaria.El presente artículo analiza el potencial pedagógico del street art en la etapa de la educación infantil. A partir de una primera parte conceptualizadora con una perspectiva teórico-descriptiva se pretende entender el vínculo existente entre la ciudad y la infancia, el papel del arte urbano y su poder pedagógico en la etapa de la educación infantil. Finalmente se elabora una propuesta de implementacióndel street art desde finales del primer ciclo de la etapa de educación infantil.
