Influence of cross-disorder analyses on the diagnostic criteria of mental illnesses

Cross-disorder studies are identifying shared genetic variations among common mental illnesses - including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression - which are classified as independent disorders in the current diagnostic system.
