Abstract

Multimodal gadolinium fluoride nanoparticles belong to potential contrast agents useful for bimodal optical fluorescence and magnetic resonance imaging. However, the metallic nature of the nanoparticles, similarly to some paramagnetic iron oxides, might induce allergic and anaphylactic reactions in patients after administration.
