La chaine payante Netflix a remporté très récemment un grand succès avec l’adaptation pour la télévision du best-seller de Jay Asher, Thirteen Reasons Why. L’ouvrage pour adolescents et son adaptation intéressent à plusieurs titres la géographie en offrant un aperçu de la spatialité d’une génération hyperconnectée. Le projet même de l’œuvre littéraire et télévisuelle s’appuie sur une originalité : le lecteur accompagne un jeune adolescent Clay Jensen, dans un itinéraire à travers son quartier que lui a laissé une camarade qui vient de se suicider. Cet itinéraire, porté à la fois par une carte et une série de cassettes se rapportant à des individus et à des lieux, doit permettre à Clay Jensen de comprendre les 13 raisons qui ont conduit la jeune adolescente, Hannah Baker, à commettre l’irréparable. Cet article s’emploiera à analyser et à comparer ces deux productions culturelles de fiction afin de mettre en avant ce que l’on pourrait nommer des crises socio-spatiales et hyperspatiales qui peuvent expliquer le suicide de la jeune adolescente. The very project of the literary and television work is based on an originality : the reader accompanies a young teenager Clay Jensen, in a route through his neighborhood left to him by a comrade who has just committed suicide. This itinerary, carried both by a map and a series of tapes relating to peoples and places, should allow Clay Jensen to understand the 13 reasons which led the young adolescent girl, Hannah Baker, to commit the irrepa­rable.
