Analysis of the impact of the usage behavior of the business smartphone of the employees of the middle management level in the BAK

Im Rahmen der gegenständlichen Bachelorarbeit werden die Auswirkung und das Verwendungsverhalten des Smartphones von Mitarbeiter*innen der mittleren Führungsebene im Bundesamt zur Korruptionsprävention und Korruptionsbekämpfung (BAK) beleuchtet und analysiert. Der betroffene Personenkreis im Bundesamt zur Korruptionsprävention und Korruptionsbekämpfung besteht in der operativen Abteilung aus Polizistinnen und Polizisten, die durch Fortbildungslehrgänge und ein Studium, die Position einer Vorgesetzten oder eines Vorgesetzen bekleiden. Die weitere Abteilung für meine Analyse betrifft die Abteilung 1, die in drei Referate unterteilt ist, und die von entsprechenden Leiterinnen und Leitern, welche eine fundierte Ausbildung mit einem abgeschlossenen Studium besitzen, geführt werden. Die Anforderungen an diese Kolleginnen und Kollegen bezüglich Zeitmanagement sind eine besondere Herausforderung, da sie sowohl ihrerseits der unmittelbaren Vorgesetzten Rechenschaft ablegen müssen, als auch den Personen, welchen sie vorgesetzt sind, entsprechende Anweisungen zu erteilen haben. Ein Smartphone kann in dieser Situation ein sehr effizientes Hilfsmittel sein. Es wurde im BAK vor circa drei Jahren begonnen, jede Mitarbeiterin und jeden Mitarbeiter mit einem Apple iPhone als Standard auszustatten. Diesen Meilenstein in der Kommunikation lässt das Bisherige obsolet erscheinen. Seitens des Bundesministeriums für Inneres wurde eine Konfiguration festgelegt, welche den Mitarbeiter*innen die Möglichkeit gibt, eine sehr rasche Abfrage von Daten zu erhalten, ohne den jeweiligen Standort zu verlassen. Die empirische Beleuchtung dieses Themas besteht aus qualitativer Forschung mit leitfadengestützten Interviews. Es sollen das Vorgehen der Personen sowie das Potential der Möglichkeiten welche das High End-Gerät bietet, dargestellt werden. Weiters der Komfort, der durch die Mobilität entsteht, ohne die Gefahr außer Acht zu lassen, dass dadurch auch ein stetig ansteigendes Stresslevel entsteht, welches gesundheitliche Schäden bewirken kann. Das Resultat der dargestellten Bachelorarbeit zeigt, dass durch die Anwendung und Nutzung des Smartphones die Kolleginnen und Kollegen einen eindeutigen Vorteil erkannt haben. Es ist nachvollziehbar, dass die reichlichen Möglichkeiten eine wesentliche Erleichterung und zum Teil eine Zeitersparnis im täglichen Berufsleben darstellen. In the BAK’s operational department the affected group of persons consists of police officers who, thanks to advanced training courses and studies, hold the position of a superior or supervisor. My further analysis concerns Department 1, which is subdivided into three units. These units are led by heads of unit who have completed studies and hence possess a profound level of education. The demands on these colleagues in terms of time management are particularly challenging. On the one hand, they are accountable to their immediate superiors and on the other hand, they have to give instructions to their subordinates. A smartphone can be a very efficient tool in this situation. About three years ago, the BAK started to equip every employee with an Apple iPhone. This milestone in communication appears to make all previous means of communication obsolete. On the part of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, a configuration was determined that gives the employees the possibility to obtain data very quickly without leaving the respective location. The empirical analysis of this topic consists of qualitative research with guideline-based interviews. The approach of the users as well as the potential offered by the high-end device are to be presented. Further aspects of the analysis look at the comfort that arises from mobility, without disregarding the damage that constantly increasing stress levels may cause to one’s personal health. The result of this bachelor thesis shows that the colleagues have recognized the application and use of their smartphone as a clear advantage. It is understandable that the abundant possibilities represent a significant relief and in some parts a time-saving factor in daily working life.
