THE USE OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN BUSINESS AND CULTURE OF TRANSPARENCY ON THE EXAMPLE OF BRIDGEWATER ASSOCIATES

U dvadeset i prvom stoljeću svjesni smo ogromnog utjecaja kojeg je primjena tehnologije u poslovanju imala na sve od industrije u cijelosti do samog radnika. Suvremene tehnologije kao što su algoritmi, strojno učenje i umjetna inteligencija već danas mijenjaju radna mjesta, te se pretpostavlja da će u budućnosti u potpunosti zamijeniti, ne samo fizički ljudski rad kao što je do sada bila situacija, nego i ljudsku sposobnost donošenja odluka. Svakom znanstvenom spoznajom o ljudskom umu postajemo sve više svjesni nedostataka ljudskog razmišljanja, te se ovakva budućnost čini neizbježnom. No ovaj rad, iako će istaknuti te nedostatke, namjerava na primjeru američkog hedge fonda Bridgewater Associates predstaviti poslovnu kulturu u kojoj algoritmi ne zamjenjuju čovjeka već ostvaruju sustav u kojem nadograđuju čovjekove sposobnosti i pomažu mu donijeti kvalitetnu odluku, maksimizirati output, te samo poduzeće učiniti transparentnijim.
In the twenty first century we are aware of the enormous impact technology had on everything from the industry as a whole, to an average worker. Modern technologies such as algorithms, machine learning and artificial intelligence are changing the job market already today and it’s assumed that it will completely replace not only physical work, as it was the case in the past, but human also human decision making. With every scientific discovery about the human mind, we are more aware of the flaws of the human mind, and this future seems more and more likely. But this paper, despite pointing out those flaws, aims to present an organizational culture, using the hedge fund Bridgewater Associates as an example, in that algorithms don’t fully replace human decision making, but instead enhance the abilities of employees and help them make better decisions, maximize their output, and promote a culture of transparency.
