GMDSS Modernization Plan

Svjetski pomorski sustav za pogibelj i sigurnost (engl. Global Maritime Distress and Safety System - GMDSS) znaĉajno je unaprijedio sigurnost navigacije i omogućio pomorcima dobivanje informacija koje su vaţne za sigurnost plovidbe. Standard je implementiran prije 25 godina i GMDSS je to cijelo vrijeme nadopunjavan. MeĊunarodna pomorska organizacija (engl. International Maritime Organization - IMO) napravila je smjernice za prvu veliku promjenu samog GMDSS-a. U ovom radu će se obratiti trenutna oprema i trenutni koncepti na kojima se temelji GMDSS, problemi koji se pojavljuju prilikom korištenja sustava i plan modernizacije GMDSS-a. Global Maritime Distress and Safety System - GMDSS has significantly improved the navigation safety and provided seafarers information relevant to the Safety of Navigation. The standard has been implemented 25 years ago and GMDSS during that time supplemented by relevant updates. International Maritime Organization - IMO nowadays has made the guidelines for the first major change in the GMDSS. This paper will give overview of the current equipment and current concepts underlying the GMDSS, the problems that occur when using the system and overview of modernization plan of GMDSS.
