Abstract

In the Jules Horowitz Reactor under construction in Cadarache, one of the foreseen experimental facilities is the LORELEI (Light water One Rod Equipment for Loca Experimental Investigation). The aim of the test device is to analyze the thermomechanical behavior of the cladding and the fuel rod, and the radiological consequences of a Large Break LOCA (Loss-Of-Coolant Accident) acci- dent. One of the aspects of the design studies is to simulate the behavior of the device in normal oper- ation and in incidental and accidental situations, thanks to the CATHARE-2 code. The CATHARE-2 code is a thermal-hydraulic two-phase flow software aiming at simulating nuclear circuits. In the actual paper, we present two different numerical simulations corresponding to the two main working situations of the LORELEI device.
