Abstract
- From SAS Experience emerged that some key aspects proved to be crucial for a successful implementation: non authoritarian relationship between adults and youngsters: the informality as a resource to build-up relationships; importance of crossing the borders between inside / outside the school to address problems that youngsters often live at school (but that the school cannot address); importance of cooperative learning and learning by doing approach: young people learn better in groups of experiences; they learn becoming active citizens and participating in community issues through collective discussions that enable sharing reflections on their social life; importance of choosing volunteering associations that are able to engage in a relationship with young people: youngsters need to be supported and motivated in their paths. It is not obvious that associations can offer education and relational skills; associations’ members may not be keen in working with young people who have different problems of motivation, discipline, relationship with adults.
