Abstract

In developed countries, stroke is at the 4th place, while in Croatia it is in second place in terms of mortality. There is a very high mortality rate at the very outset. Stroke may occur at any age, and recently an increased incidence was observed in the younger population. Many illnesses are responsible for the onset of stroke onset most commonly associated with modern life habits. More and more efforts are now being made to prevent stroke. Physical activity is very important in preventing disease and preserving health, and if it comes to stroke, it is an essential part of treatment and rehabilitation. The aim of this graduate thesis is to present a case of CIMT (Constraint – Induced Movement Therapy) to a patient who has had a stroke (chronic case) 7 years ago and has problems with the entire left side of body. She has experienced intracerebral bleeding and needed to learn how to talk again. The dynamics of motor functions recovery will be presented as well as the recovery-related changes in the quality of life.
