Abstract

Odorika pa čak i nešto južnije, a Hrvatska starom rijekom Dragonjom. Unatoč desetljećima pregovaranja, rješenje spora još uvijek nije izgledno. This thesis is focused on the geopolitical aspects of the conflict between Croatia and Slovenia, with an emphasis on its maritime segment. The basis is on the disagreement between the two countries on defining the border, so throughout few chapters are given the different views in regard of the matter. While Slovenia believes that the whole Gulf of Piran belongs to it, as well as the access to the international waters, Croatia believes that the border in the Gulf should go along the middle line. In addition to maritime border conflict, there is also a issue in the area of the river Dragonja. Slovenia demands that the border goes through the Channel of St. Odorik and even further south, while Croatia demands that it goes through the old river Dragonja. Despite decades of negotiations, a solution to the conflict is still unlikely to happen.
