Abstract
Thermal water in Tuheljske Toplice comes from the spring to the pool complex by means of supply pipes within which the precipitate settles. A precipitate is an insoluble solid formed by a reaction in solution. The precipitate in Terme Tuhelj was formed on the walls of two different supply pipes, one of iron and the other of plastic composition. For the purposes of this work and precipitate research, the following methods were used: determination of carbonate content by volumetric measurement with a Schiebler calcimeter, complexometry, infrared spectroscopy with Ferier transformation (FTIR) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD). The aim of this study is to observe the differences between the precipitate precipitated in two different supply pipes. The results using four different analyzes confirmed that the precipitates were composed of calcium carbonate, that they contained a similar proportion of magnesium and calcium, and that they were identical in composition and structure.
