Protective TiC coating for absorbing elements made from HfHx

Abstract: The effect of TiC coating on the hydrogen desorption from HfHx samples is investigated at high temperatures. The samples were heated to a temperature of 950 °C with a heating rate of 6 °C/min. X-ray diffraction analysis was performed to reveal a decomposition of hafnium hydride to hafnium and hydrogen, then the release of hydrogen from the samples.
