The persona and the biographical value: the formation of the profile genre in the Rio de Janeiro press of the Empire Brazil

Esta pesquisa propõe analisar a formação desse gênero, que procuraremos demonstrar como gênese do que hoje caracterizamos como perfil jornalístico. A partir de um vasto levantamento e catalogação desses registros jornalísticos pelo acervo da Biblioteca Nacional, disponíveis na Hemeroteca Digital, investigamos quais são os aspectos de permanência e ruptura presentes nas especificidades desta modalidade, além das condições socioculturais ali imbricadas e influências com a retórica literária e histórica (BAKHTIN, 2010, 2011, 2017; BOURDIEU, 1998, 2008, 2011). Ademais, e para adensarmos melhor as particularidades do gênero, analisamos flagrantes significativos dessas manifestações biográficas pela imprensa fluminense em momentos históricos distintos, desde o Primeiro até o desfecho do Segundo Reinado. Em virtude do amadurecimento da imprensa oitocentista, a consolidação de uma identidade jornalística e suas mediações, defendemos, entre outras hipóteses, que o campo jornalístico tensiona e ressignifica as estratégias de configuração da persona (GOFFMAN, 1985), bem como a convocação de novos parâmetros de valor biográfico. A pesquisa busca, pois, suprir uma lacuna científica: uma teorização sólida sobre a formação do gênero perfil dentro dos ditames jornalísticos brasileiros. Since the beginning of the 19th century and on an expansive trajectory through documentary evidence, "biography" or "biographical news", narrative constructions centered on the life story of a personality, manifest themselves in sections and pass through different thematic designs and ideological positions in the Rio de Janeiro “fluminense” press. This research aims to analyze the formation of this genre, which we will try to demonstrate as the genesis of what we characterize today as a journalistic profile. From a vast survey and cataloging of these journalistic records by the collection of the National Library, available in the Digital Library, we investigate what are the aspects of permanence and rupture presented in the specificities of this modality, in addition to the socio-cultural conditions there and influences with literary and historical rhetorical (BAKHTIN, 2010, 2011, 2017; BOURDIEU, 1998, 2008, 2011). In addition, and in order to better consolidate the particularities of the genre, we have analyzed the significant signs of these biographical manifestations by the Rio de Janeiro “fluminense” press at different historical moments, from the First to the end of the Second Reign. Due to the maturation of the 19th century press, the consolidation of a journalistic identity and its mediations, we defend, among other hypotheses, that the journalistic field tensions and resignifies the configuration strategies of the persona (GOFFMAN, 1985), as well as the call for new parameters of biographical value. The research seeks, therefore, to fill a scientific gap: a solid theorization about the formation of the profile genre within the Brazilian journalistic dictates.
