Effects of large enterprises on the territorial and socio-environmental dynamics of the industrial district of São Luís, Maranhão

Therefore, it was necessary to identify the environmental changes that occurred in the area, analyze aspects of economic and social development in the communities of the area, in order to characterize the current situation of territorial dynamics and socio-environmental conflicts in the DISAL region. The research was initiated through a systematic bibliographic survey on the temporal transformations that occurred in the area and subsequent application of semi-structured questionnaires with 364 participants. most similar and ANOSIM one way, to explore dissimilarities between groups. The statistical analyzes were carried out in the past software version 4.03, in a second approach, environmental changes were also identified through the questionnaires compared with thematic maps on a space-time scale of 35 years, between the years 1985 to 2020. alterations suffered in the use and occupation of the land, were identified through the images of MAPBIOMAS and CBERES 4A, through the cartographic projection in official data base. The results found suggest, based on the environmental, social, economic and educational attributes, similarities between the rural communities surveyed. Thematic maps identified: an increase in plant suppression; an increase in occupation and a reduction in water bodies. In the speeches of the community extracted from the semi-structured questionnaires, the findings identified in the thematic maps are intensified. The results confirm the residents' perception of the territorial conflicts existing in the region and the increase in environmental degradation by large enterprises and the accelerated and disordered occupation process. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo central compreender os efeitos de empreendimentos de grande porte na dinâmica territorial e socioambiental da região do Distrito Industrial de São Luís - MA. Para tanto, foi necessário identificar as alterações ambientais ocorridas na área, analisar aspectos de desenvolvimento econômico e social nas comunidades do entorno, a fim de caracterizar a situação atual da dinâmica territorial e dos conflitos socioambientais da região do DISAL. A pesquisa foi iniciada por meio de levantamento bibliográfico sistemático sobre as transformações temporais ocorridas na área e posterior aplicação de questionários semiestruturados com 364 participantes, os dados foram padronizados, codificados e submetidos à análise multivariada, pelo método de agrupamento de Cluster para a visualização de amostras mais similares e ANOSIM one way, para explorar dissimilaridades entre os grupos. As análises estatísticas foram efetuadas no software past versão 4.03, em uma segunda abordagem e identificou-se também através dos questionários as alterações ambientais comparadas com mapas temáticos em uma escala de espaço-temporal de 35 anos, entre os anos 1985 a 2020. As alterações sofridas no uso e ocupação do solo foram identificadas através das imagens do MAPBIOMAS e CBERES 4A, por meio da projeção cartográfica em base de dados oficiais. Os resultados encontrados sugerem, com base nos atributos ambientais, sociais, econômicos e educacionais, semelhanças entre as comunidades rurais pesquisadas. Os mapas temáticos identificaram aumento da supressão vegetal; crescimento da população no território e a redução dos corpos hídricos. As narrativas da comunidade extraídas dos questionários semiestruturados intensificam as práticas identificadas nos mapas temáticos. Os resultados confirmam a percepção dos moradores quanto aos conflitos territoriais existentes na região e o aumento da degradação ambiental por parte dos grandes empreendimentos e do acelerado e desordenado processo de ocupação.
