Abstract

The actuality of the problem: considering the fact that the society of Lithuania is becoming older as time passes by, the continuing popularity of removable prosthetics is being observed as an alternative method of prosthesis treatment for toothless or partially toothless patients. For this reason, one of the most popular oral mucosal diseases among these patients is denture stomatitis, so it is essential for dentists and dentists-specialists to have sufficient knowledge of having an ability to identify, diagnose and treat the disease in time. The purpose: to analyze and compare the knowledge on denture stomatitis of Lithuanian dentists and dentists-specialists, acquired during the studies in university and doing the internship, and to evaluate the acquired knowledge’s dependence on the duration of respondent’s work practice, specialization and gender. The material and the methods: an anonymous questionnaire was created. The questionnaires were handed in paper or sent by using social networks to 366 dentists and dentists-specialists from different cities of Lithuania.
