Epidemiological features of diabetes melitus in Kumanovo and the surrounding settlements within from 2011 to 2015

Abstract

Diabetes, is a group of metabolic diseases in which there are high blood sugar levels over a prolonged period. There are numerous risk factors that contribute to development of diabetes mellitus, such as: genetics, getting old, obesity, physical inactivity, longer period under stress, nutrition, noxious habits. Diabetes is a disease of modern times, a disease of the civilized world in the years to come it will be even more widespread, so in future it will have a status of illness, but will be a feature of the human being. Insulin and modern treatment of diabetes were put under the control of acute metabolic disorders, but today there is a growing problem with serious consequences from vascular - chronic complications of diabetes. It is made epidemiological study of descriptive characteristics of dijabetes mellitus in Kumanovo and the surrounding settlements in the period from 2011 to 2015. Used official data from epidemiological reports suffering from diabetes by the Public Health Institute in Skopje Public Health Center in Kumanovo and the Center for Diabetes at General Hospital Kumanovo number of registered insulin-dependent diabetics. In Macedonia there are approximately 200,000 people with diabetes type 1 and type 2. Of these, about 46 000 people receiving insulin. The children's clinic annually register about 30 children with type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent). According to the Kumanovo dijabeten Center of General Hospital in Kumanovo, where 70% of cases are people with diabetes mellitus type 2, with only 30% for persons suffering from diabetes mellitus type 1.
