Abstract

In the present thesis, we develop the bioelectrical impedance (BI) technique for the measurement of the arterial stiffness. The first part shows the recording of the impedance signal on several anatomical sites such as chest, pelvis, thigh and calf. The time-scale analysis of impedance signals on each anatomical site enables the time and spatial invariance to be validated. The study was performed on 15 healthy subjects. In the second part, we compare the impedance wave velocity (IWV) to the pulse wave velocity (PWV) for the determination of the aortic stiffness. The results show a high significant correlation between both techniques (r2=0.86 ; P
