Fen bilimleri dersinde öğrencilerin merak ettikleri konuların belirlenmesi = Identifying the subject that students are curious about science lesson

Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, fen bilimleri dersinde öğrencilerin merak ettikleri konulara yönelik görüşlerini araştırmaktır. Araştırmada, öğrencilerin fene yönelik merak ve algılarını ortaya koyabilmek için nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomenolojik yöntem tercih edilmiştir. Araştırmada veri toplama tekniği olarak görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, 2020-2021 eğitim-öğretim yılında Gaziantep ili, Yavuzeli ilçesinde bulunan Bakırca Ortaokulunda her sınıf seviyesinden rastgele seçilen 10' ar öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Örneklem 23 kız, 17 erkek olmak üzere toplamda 40 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Fen bilimlerinde merak edilen konular ile cinsiyet, başarı puanları, ailelerin gelir durumu, sınıf seviyeleri, izledikleri belgesellerin türü, ders dışındaki merakları, hedefledikleri mesleklere göre her biri alt amaç şeklinde ele alınıp derinlemesine analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan araştırmada verilerin tamamı, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen "Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşme" ile elde edilmiştir. Görüşme formu araştırma yapılacak olan hedef kitleyi yönlendirmeyen, kolay anlaşılabilir sorulardan oluşmasına dikkat edilmiştir. Sorular farklı türden görüşleri sorgulayan, öğrenci seviyelerine uygun, anlaşılır ve açık uçlu sorulardan oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre fen bilimleri dersinde en fazla merak edilen konu uzay olarak ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu araştırma, fen bilimleri dersinde öğrencilerin merak ettiği konuların belirlenmesinde literatürdeki boşluğa katkı sağlaması açısından yol göstereceği umut edilmektedir. Öğrencilerin fen dersi başarı puanlarının, ders dışında merak ettiklerinin, ileride olmak istedikleri bilim insanının, ilgilerini çeken konuların ve sınıf düzeyinin fen bilimleri dersinde merak ettikleri konular üzerinde etkisi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Etkisi olan faktörlere ek olarak fen öğretmeninin ders anlatma biçiminin öğrencilerin fen bilimleri dersi konularına olan merak düzeylerini olumlu yönde etkilediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğrencilerin ailelerin gelir durumu, izlenen belgesellerin türü, en çok sevdikleri ders, kurdukları hayaller, hedefledikleri meslek, gezmekten keyif aldıkları yerler, oynamaktan keyif aldıkları oyun türleri ve cinsiyet değişkenlerinin fen bilimleri dersinde merak ettikleri konular üzerinde herhangi bir etkisinin olmadığı görülmüştür. The main goal of this research is to find out students' opinions about topics that they are curious about in their science classes. In this research, phenomenological method, one of the qualitative research methods, was preferred , in order to reveal students' curiosity and perceptions about science. The interview form was used as a data collection tool in the research. The study group of the research consists of 10 students randomly selected from each grade level in Bakırca Secondary School in Gaziantep province, Yavuzeli district in the 2020-2021 academic year. For example, 23 girls and 17 boys, in total 40 students. Gender, achievement scores, income status of families, class levels, the type of documentaries they watch, their curiosity outside the classroom, the professions they target are discussed as sub-objectives and analyzed in depth besides the subjects that are wondered about science. All of the data in the research were obtained with the "Semi-Structured Interview" developed by the researcher. The interview form consisted of easy-to-understand questions that did not direct the target audience to be researched. The questions consist of clear and open-ended questions that question different types of views and are suitable for student levels. According to the results obtained in the research the most attracted subject in the science class has emerged as The Space. It is hoped that this research would contribute to the field of Science classes in terms of the subjects that are appealing to the students and the gap in the literature of the field. It has been determined that the students' science course success scores, what they are curious about outside the classroom, the scientist they want to be in the future, the subjects that interest them and the class level, have effect on the subjects they are curious about in the science lesson. In addition to these factors the way the science course teacher teaches effects the students' curiosity levels about science course subjects positively. It has been seen that the students' families' income status, the type of documentaries they watch, their favorite lesson, the dreams they have, the profession they aim for, the places they enjoy traveling, the types of games they enjoy playing and the gender variables have no effect on the subjects they are curious about in their science courses.
