Abstract

University training is crucial in order to learn how to become an adult educator. In Italy, adult educators are trained through Master programmes recently modified after a reform of the university system. Traineeship programmes represent the connection between academic knowledge and workplace learning, which still needs reflection and innovative ideas. This chapter focuses on the tension emerging from the need for developing professional competences and challenging students’ attitudes. The chapter presents an experience of academic training for adult educators designed to promote a researching and reflexive attitude that is fundamental to meet high standards in a working environment.
