El Bolívar que no fue. Auge y caída de Antonio Leocadio Guzmán en la política venezolana del siglo XIX

La vida de Antonio Leocadio Guzmán tuvo un antes y un después de su condena a muerte y la conmutación de la pena. En el tiempo anterior a ello fundó el Gran Partido Liberal de Venezuela con estrategias que, claramente, antecedieron a los partidos modernos del siglo XX, incluyendo el despliegue de ese partido de la mano de un periódico, lo mismo que haría Lenin con la fundación del Partido Comunista ruso. Le llamaron Bolívar y le siguieron con la convicción que se sigue a un héroe. Decepcionó a todos y se suicidó políticamente, como sus propios compañeros le dijeran. Murió en 1847 antes de fallecer de verdad en 1884. Este trabajo sintetiza estos hechos analíticamente sobre la base de la investigación documental. The life of Antonio Leocadio Guzmán had a before and after his death sentence and the commutation of the sentence. In the time before he founded the Gran Partido Liberal of Venezuela with strategies that clearly preceded the modern parties of the 20th century, including the deployment of that party supported by a newspaper, just as Lenin will do with the foundation of the Russian Communist Party. They called Bolívar and followed him with the conviction which it was followed as a hero. He disappointed everyone and committed suicide politically, as his own comrades told him.
