Hardware processors for pattern recognition tasks in wire chamber data

A method for the recognition of curved tracks and its implementation in digital hardware is presented. Similar hardware processors can be used for point-finding in multi-plane multi-wire chambers. A comparison is made of the execution speed of special purpose hardware processors and Fortran routines running on large scale general purpose computers. Polynomial evaluators which are mentioned can be of interest for event selection.
