Abstract

Postual effect on renal function was analysed on the cases of pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) (n=11) compared with cases of normotensive pregnancies (n=12) and non-pregnant women (n=9). In non-pregnant women, GFR, RBF and RPF showed no changes in relation to the changing posture (supine and left lateral). In normal pregnant women and cases of PIH, GFR, RBF and RPF significantly increased on changing their posture from supine to left lateral at third trimester. Especially, patients with PIH, increasing rates of GFR, RBF and RBF were higher than those of normal pregnant controls. In conclusion, lateral recumbency is very important to manage patients with PIH.
